Cya Salim Mehajer: Controversial former deputy mayor declares good-bye Australia
Australia’s most controversial former deputy mayor appears to be leaving the country to chase his dreams.
Salim Mehajer, the former Auburn deputy mayor has hinted he’s seeking a change of scenery after a scandal-plagued couple of months.
In an Instagram post to his 100,000 followers on Saturday, Mehajer declared he was saying “goodbye” to Australia in order to pursue his “dream challenges”.

However he was quick to note that the change of scenery wouldn’t be forever.
“Will be taking off to pursue my dream challenges,” he wrote. “I’ll be back”.
It’s unclear where Mehajer plans to go, or what his dream challenge is.
The declaration comes days after his estranged wife Aysha Learmonth made known her return to Sydney, after taking time out for a few months.
In August, footage of Mehajer threatening to rape Aysha’s parents along with an expletive-filled rant was released.
The couple married one year earlier, in a ceremony declared the “wedding of the century,” after it shut down a Lidcombe street in Western Sydney.
Last week, in a surprising move, Mehajer unveiled his own line of toiletries, which will reportedly be released to selected hotels in 2017.
The collection of toiletries includes body lotion, soap, shower gel, conditioner, towels and a toothbrush.
