Woman who spent eight years caged as sex slave still lives part-time where she was held captive

A woman who was caged as a sex slave by a deranged loner for eight years, now lives part-time in the Vienna lair where she was held captive.

It’s been ten years since Natascha Kampusch escaped Wolfgang Priklopil’s dungeon.

Now 28, Kampusch has spoken of the moment she made the decision to flee her kidnapper on August 23, 2006.

Kampusch was held captive for eight-and-a-half years, where she endured beatings, starvation and horrific sexual abuse.

Her horrific ordeal began in March 1998, after Priklopil snatched her as she walked to school.

Ten years on she remains single, still carries a photo of her kidnapper in her handbag and visits the house where she lost eight years multiple times a week.

Speaking with German newspaper BILD, Kampusch said she had been asked by her kidnapper to clean his car on the day she fled.

“He wanted to sell it and had told me to clean it really thoroughly and completely,” she said.

At 12.56pm Priklopil was distracted on his mobile phone when she made the decision to run to freedom.

“I looked to the right and left without knowing which way to go,” she told BILD.

“Then I ran.”

Eventually she saw a woman in a garden house and asked her for help, she called the police.

Kampusch has not had any contact with the woman who saved her life since that day.

She has since penned a book about her life called Ten Years of Freedom.

An investigation is underway surrounding the alleged suicide of Wolfgang Priklopil.

Priklopil’s decapitated body was found on a train line in Vienna on the same day Kampusch escaped.

Two coroners who examined the case files surrounding his death have since determined that he might have been murdered.

Kampusch acquired Priklopil’s house and car, however mental health professionals have said there are links to the crimes against her that she should move on from.

Instead Kampusch spends her weekends at the home, living in the rooms where she was held captive for so long.

It’s believed she has gained a fortune in excess of $8m (AUD) from TV interviews, books and a movie deal.
