Gold Coast man hit with machete after woman falls from moving car

Police are investigating a bizarre incident where a woman was thrown from a moving car and the driver hit over the head with a machete.

It’s believed the woman and her children were inside the vehicle around midday on Wednesday, driven by a man on the Gold Coast.

It’s alleged an argument broke out before the woman fell from the moving vehicle and hit her head on the bitumen.

A witness then reportedly stepped in, hitting the 39-year-old male driver over the head with a machete.

Police and paramedics were called to the scene. The driver was taken to hospital in a stable condition while the woman was treated at the scene.

The children are now back with their mother who was released without serious injury.

Charges are now expected to be laid against the witness.
