'Face of ice': Man bombards Queensland police with roof tiles in three hour standoff

A man described as the “face of ice” was pulled from a stranger's roof in what appears to be a drug-induced psychotic episode in which he threw tiles at police for three hours.

Police arrived at a home in Lawnton, Queensland, to find a 23-year-old man had climbed on top of a widowed grandmother's roof.

In exclusive footage obtained by 7 News, the man yells out obscenities while throwing tiles from Jeanette's roof at police officers.

"Hey, hey, hey, you ****head," he yells. "Not bad, not bad at all, Alfie"

Police and neighbours managed to sneak the elderly woman out of the back of her house without being injured.

After a long three hours, authorities managed to get the man - who they say was on ice - down from roof.

"Police negotiators got him down from roof and he was affected by ice," Inspector Steve Flori told 7 News.

Jeanette's next door neighbour told 7 News that the man was "off his tree."

You could definitely tell there was something wrong with this guy," she said. "He was really off his tree."

Limping with blood over his body, the man was loaded into an ambulance wearing handcuffs and medical equipment.

Family friend Amanda told 7 News that she kissed the young man on the cheek and said she "loved him" and "would see him later."

She also said the young man is "a great bloke and is usually friendly."
