The engineering student told 7 News the thug started talking to him a few minutes earlier asking if he was "a cop".

"I said no, I am not," Mr Sidhu claims, adding that the man was "irritating" him so he went and sat in his car to eat dinner.

The erratic man then banged on the student's car window and without giving him a chance to say anything, the thug dragged his victim out on to the road and began beating his head.

Mr Sidhu said the man was hitting him with a bag believed have had a rock or a piece of wood inside it.

"I thought I'm going to die today because he was continuously hitting me and nobody was there to protect me," Mr Sidhu said.

The attacker is described as being about 30 years old and 180cm tall with a shaved head.

Mr Sidhu is currently studying automotive engineering nearby and said he is now scared to return to the area in case the man lashes out again.

He says he is contemplating changing schools because he is scared the attacker may recognise him.
