Onlookers were heard shouting ‘Liz, be careful!’.

The neighbouring properties were checked and no-one was home.

Firefighters tackling the flames at the rear of the property discovered Dexter the Doberman in the yard next door and manage to free him.

Owner Rebekah Cole said: “The dog bed that he sleeps on was actually burnt, there are burn marks everywhere."

Liz said: “She's fine. I haven't noticed that's she's been coughing. she just seems completely unfazed by it all."

What sparked the fire is a mystery but investigators say it started in the carport.

At the height of the blaze, firefighters feared the flames would spread to the van in the backyard.
