Man finds mouse nibbling on fresh biscuits in Woolworths bakery

Stomach-churning photos of a mouse nibbling on a biscuit inside a display cabinet at a Woolworths supermarket have left a sickening taste in customers’ mouths.

The South Australian supermarket has launched an investigation and called in exterminators since the mouse was spotted eating freshly baked biscuits before it ran quickly out of sight.

Mickey Young, also a baker, was shopping at Woolworths Port Lincoln on Saturday when another customer alerted him to the unhygienic scene.

Mr Young grabbed his phone and started filming.

“It’s pretty dangerous because they hold a lot of diseases and stuff and that’s probably one of the worst things for a baker to see in another bakery”.

Mr Young told 7 News he alerted staff and they immediately turfed the baked goods and started to clean the area.

“They went and got everything out of the cabinet and put some signs up saying it was out of order,” he said.

Despite a quick response from the supermarket, Mr Young said he wouldn’t be buying anything from Woolworths bakery section anytime soon.

In a statement a supermarket spokesman said investigations were underway as to how the mouse got in with the bakery products.

The store has also engaged local pest controllers.

The spokesman said the company worked hard to maintain the highest standard of cleanliness.

The local council hadn’t inspected the supermarket because it said no official complaint had been made about the mouse find.
