Man charged with murder after alleged stabbing attack on ex-wife and date at Korean restaurant

A man brutally stabbed to death with a glass bottle and a woman seriously injured in front of shocked diners at a restaurant in north Sydney this week were both single parents on their first date.

Keith Collins, 53, and Jovi Pilapil, 38, had met online, with Ms Pilapil expressing her excitement on Facebook just two months earlier, saying she was looking forward to 'new beginnings'.

The Filipino nurse and mum-of-four had taken out an apprehended violence order in February against her ex-husband Alexander Villaluna, 44, following the break down of their relationship.

The new beginning was cut devastatingly short by Ms Pilapil's enraged ex-husband who stormed into a Hornsby Korean BBQ restaurant where the pair were having dinner and allegedly attacked them with a glass bottle in a savage stabbing spree.

Ms Pilapil reportedly tried to flee the attacker and seek shelter in a nearby shop.

However, she was allegedly stabbed in the chest and arm and left with a fractured sternum.

She was treated by paramedics before being rushed to Royal North Shore Hospital.

A police spokesman said Villaluna was arrested and taken to Hornsby Police Station where he was charged with murder and attempted murder.

He was refused bail.

Earlier on Thursday, chilling video emerged showing the final stand-off between a policewoman and a man with blood-drenched arms behind his head following the horrific stabbing spree.

The video shows a policewoman pointing what looks to be Taser at a large man in dark clothes who is carrying a backpack over his shoulder.

The officer can be heard shouting at the man to remove his back pack and "get on the ground" before she moves behind him on the restaurant floor.

She lowers her weapon before holding the man's blood-soaked hands behind his head as she places cuffs around his wrists.

Witnesses at a restaurant alleged Villaluna was screaming during the alleged attack that Ms Pilapil had cheated on him.

Another witnesses alleged the victims were both pushed to the floor before Villaluna unleashed on Mr Collins.

"He was yelling out 'help' and me and my mates we outside, we were freaking out and were like 'nah, we've got to help him'," a witness alleged.

"He was laying there and I was like mate calm down you will be all good, just keep calm."
