Dash cam captures terrifying collision as driver speeds through red light

A man has recorded a shocking case of reckless driving when a vehicle came speeding through a red light directly towards his car, resulting in a near head-on collision.

Chris Fowler was driving his red Holden through the busy intersection of Gympie Road and Beams Road in Carseldine, Brisbane, when he said the car "came out of nowhere".

"Light has gone green, off I go and out of no where this white car just goes straight in to me and ends up in oncoming traffic," he wrote online.

"Both my airbags go off. I get a knock to the head and hand."

As a habit from riding a motorbike, Chris said that he normally waits a second or two to accelerate when a light turns green.

Even still, his careful thinking wasn't enough to avoid the collision.

Without slowing down, a white Prius can be seen speeding through the intersection, headed straight towards Chris' vehicle.

Because of the angle of the turn, he didn't see the Prius until it was too late.

"I didn't even see the white car because it was blocked by my A pillar. Didn't see it until it hit me."

Chris said the other driver was changing lanes at the time and wasn't looking at the traffic lights.

He said police are charging the offending driver.

This is just one of many brushes with death caught on dash cams everyday.
