Dad finds funnel web spider living in child's shoe

Australia has a reputation for being home to some of the world’s most dangerous wild life, and this video helps to show why.

In a lot of places around the world it’s considered polite to leave your shoes outside.

In Australia that practice is just asking for trouble.

YouTube user Moderate Hyperbole posted this video of the creature that took up residence in his son’s shoes when he left them outside; a funnel web spider - one of Australia's deadliest spiders.

It did not take long for the highly poisonous arachnid to construct his eponymous funneled web in the youngsters shoes, proving that if you do leave your shoes outside, you really need to check them first before putting them back on.

A dose of fly spray and a stick helped draw the unwelcome tenant into the open but it is lucky the found the spider before the child put his shoes back on.

A bite from a funnel web can prove to be extremely serious if not treated immediately.
