Woman left bruised and bloodied after being thrown to ground by police during arrest

A woman accused of shoplifting needed four staples in her head to seal a wound inflicted by a US police officer when he threw her to the ground during an arrest.

Tiffany Tebo was leaving a shopping centre in Wesley Chapel, Florida, carrying a bag of clothes and shoes when she was confronted by the sheriff's deputy.

When she failed to comply with his instructions, Ms Tebo was pushed against a wall before being thrown to the ground on her back.

“I’m all bruised up banged up everywhere,” she told WTSP.

“He’s a bigger man. He didn’t need to do any of that.”

The violent arrest was captured on the officer's body cam, which shows the panicked woman crying and bleeding from the back of her head.

The officer can be heard telling her to 'stop resisting' and instructs Ms Tebo to lie on her front with her hands behind her back.

Again, she fails to listen to instructions and the deputy pulls out a taser gun, threatening to use it if she doesn't roll over.

"I don't want this! Please just take it and let me go, please I'll pay you," she tells the officer.

Blood can be seen streaming down her back from her head wound, splattering the pavement around her.

Ms Tebo later told WTSP the deputy could've approached the situation differently.

“He had a hold of me. He could’ve just put handcuffs on me. There was no reason to throw me down to the ground,” says Tebo.

But Pasco Sheriff Chris Nocco said he believes his team did the right thing.

“We’re trying to put handcuffs on her, she’s trying to fight. I know people will say she’s tiny but a lot of tiny people cause harm."

The officers stated that if she had following instructions and complied, no force would've been needed to arrest her.
