Molly Meldrum nearly had arm amputated after Thailand accident

Molly Meldrum has said he is glad to be back home in Melbourne after his horror holiday in Thailand.

He had been trying to escape the hype from "Molly" the mini-series, but a devastating fall left him making headlines anyway.

After seven tumultuous weeks, Molly was back with his beloved dog Ziggy.

“It was fantastic and this one went spare, Ziggy, when I came in… So it was really good. I'm home... I'm home," he said.

It was known that his fall in Bangkok could have left him paralysed, but he revealed on Friday that Thai doctors had told him he could also have lost his arm, after his shoulder was dislocated.

“It went blue and black and God knows what, you know, and they said if I hadn't come there then, there was a possibility they'd have to amputate,” Mr Meldrum said.

He will need further treatment in Melbourne.

Next week, he returns to his beloved studio to produce records for young singers like Sudanese born ROR.

“Well, I'm back into production, record production, which I love the most - more than anything," Mr Meldrum said.

He was proud that the sound track to the ‘Molly’ miniseries was charting number one ahead of an old sparring partner.

“And at number 10 is Elton John with his album,” Meldrum said, with his thumb to his nose.

“Nah, nah nah nah nah.”

Meldrum promised he would stay out of trouble - with one exception: “If St kilda had to win the Grand Final, I will not behave myself that night. If that ever happens, I will go bloody crazy.”
