Three UFO sightings over South America leave sceptics and believers locked in debate

Sceptics and believers are locked in a fierce debate over UFOs yet again, following three apparent sightings over South America in recent weeks.

Sightings caught on camera in Chile, Bolivia and Brazil in December, have whipped both sides into a frenzy.

Video of the sighting in Santiago, which was uploaded to YouTube last week, shows a girl freaking out after spotting a fleet of UFOs soaring above the Chilean capital.

The video has been viewed more than 100,000 times and left the online community divided.

YouTube user Dafastso said: “It seems like real footage, complete with atmospheric flickering and pixel density.”

"Those whose saying its fake they need to get a life and come to reality,” added user masi0010.

There were indeed plenty of sceptics who pointed out that the unidentified flying objects were most likely drones or helicopters.

“I could be wrong but to me it looks like helicopters, probably a police or military exercise,” user twas brillig wrote.

“You know it’s fake when the camera keeps going in and out of focus like a Michael Bay movie,” added ThinkOutsideTheTV.

Earlier this month, another video loaded to YouTube claimed to show a giant flying saucer over a rural neightbourhood in Bolivia.

The vision shows a mysterious circular-shaped object flying above mountains in the city of El Alto.

The video was uploaded onto a UFO sightings website which aims to collect evidence of extraterrestrial life on Earth.

Sceptics were quick to claim that the video was a hoax aimed at increasing traffic to the filmmaker’s website.

However others were not convinced that it was fake.

“Not sure what to think of this one,” posted puzzled user The white J Cole.

Believers were given another chance to hope, with a similar looking UFO spotted in Southern Brazil on December 27.

The Express reports a woman named Marmel posted a picture online showing a blurred disc-shape, which she says she didn’t even notice while taking a scenic photo while at her boyfriend's football game .

"When I went back to the photo, I realised there was an object in the upper right hand corner…I looked up to see what it could be since there was nothing there when I snapped it, there was nothing in the sky and no noise,” she said.

Here are some other alleged UFO sightings which have sparked fierce debate.
