'What little kid doesn't write love notes?': Boy, 9, threatened with sexual harassment charges

A nine-year-old US boy has been threatened with sexual harassment charges after he passed a love note to his crush.

In the notes the boy, who has not been identified but is from Tampa, Florida, said 'I like you' and that the girl had sparkly eyes.

Defending her son, the boy's mum told ABC Action News: "He's nine, what little kid doesn't write love notes?"

The mum described the note as 'very sweet' to his classmate girl crush and 'how she wears the same uniform and how her eyes sparkled like diamonds'.

The trouble began when other classmates started teasing the boy about wanted to see the little girl naked.

School officials branded the letters 'unwanted' and the little boy was called to the principal's office.

The mum told ABC Action News: "That's when the principal proceeded to tell me that it wasn't appropriate that he was writing the note and that if he writes another note, they are going to file sexual harassment charges on my nine-year-old."

The school said that the notes bordered harassment because the boy sent more than one note.

The boy's mum added: "My nine-year-old doesn't even know what sexual harassment means."
