Shameless thief smashes through glass doors in liquor store ram raid

Police have revealed CCTV video of the moment a brazen thief, who is in clear need of a belt, smashed a stolen car into a Melbourne supermarket before stealing alcohol.

Investigators have been told a burglar used a stolen Toyota Kluger to smash his way into a supermarket on McDonalds Road in Epping at about 2.20am on Sunday.

Once inside, the video shows the thirsty thief entering the liquor section of the store and kicking out the glass doors to a cabinet, before stealing 10 bottles of alcohol and fleeing the scene.

The blue-coloured Kluger had been reported stolen from Malvern East in April and was dumped in nearby Edgeware Court where police recovered it on Sunday afternoon.

Whittlesea Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating and released the vision to uncover a man they wish to speak to in relation to the incident.

He is described as Caucasian, aged in his 20s or 30s and about 173-178cm tall with a solid build.

He was wearing a black T-shirt, black tracksuit pants, a grey cap, runners and a black cloth covering his face at the time of the incident.
