Report: Incest parent 'Betty Colt' due to be deported

A mother who had her children taken away after authorities uncovered signs of incest and sex abuse at a squalid property is due to be deported "imminently", according to reports.

'Betty Colt', a pseudonym provided by the Children's Court last year, is apparently being held at the Villawood Immigration Detention Centre in Sydney and is due to be deported to New Zealand after a 12-month imprisonment.

The 48-year old was last year found guilty of trying to get her children out of state care.

Ms Colt was one of 40 adults and children living in tents and caravans on a remote south-west New South Wales property in 2012.

Twelve children, many of whom were Colt's, were taken from the property and placed in out-of-home care after authorities uncovered signs of neglect and abuse among children.

Genetic testing revealed 11 of the 12 children, aged between five and 15, had parents that were related or closely related, according to a Children's Court judgment.

Colt was later charged after allegedly trying to recruit her eldest son to kidnap her youngest son from state care. She was also charged with trying to procure her sons out of state care.

She appeared at a Moss Vale Local Court in September last year with the support of one of her daughters. Magistrate Mary Ryan found Ms Colt guilty on all charges.

Ms Ryan said the accused was motivated by a desire to get even with community services for taking away her children. She said Ms Colt's relationship with her eldest son, Bobby, was "overbearing, immature and claustrophobic".
