Manhunts underway for two escaped prisoners

Two manhunts are underway in New South Wales tonight for two prisoners who escaped from Corrective Services custody in two separate incidents today.

One man escaped from Gouburn jail this morning, the other escaped from the Downing Centre District Court this afternoon.

The man who made a brazen escape around 4pm, has been identified as Ali Hussein Chahine, 33, who was in custody for breach of bail of drug supply charges.

Witnesses said Chahine had just been refused bail when he allegedly jumped from the dock after assaulting two Corrective Services officers.

He then bolted through the building and made his escape through a side exit.

Once on Castlereagh St he boarded a Newtown bound bus, which he disembarked from outside Central Railway Station near Belmore Park.

The Corrective Services officers who were attacked were treated by paramedics at the scene, but their condition is unknown.

Anyone who sees Ali Chahine is urged to not approach him but contact 000 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

SECOND PRISON ESCAPE TODAY

Before Chahine escaped, a manhunt was already underway for Beau Wiles, 25, who escaped from Goulburn jail around 9.50am.

The minimum security inmate was serving an 18-month sentence for offences including shoplifting, using a mobile phone behind bars and driving whilst disqualified.

He is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 180cm tall, with medium build, brown hair and green eyes.

He has a tattoo on his lower right forearm and was wearing prison greens.

Wiles was working in a demountable building inside the perimeter of the jail when he went missing. They were installed at the facility to cope with overcrowding. It is understood no guards saw him escape, and it wasn't captured on any security cameras.

When caught he could face an additional two years in prison for the escape, plus another two years for having his mobile phone inside his cell.

His sister Angel McBride took to Facebook today, to beg her brother to turn himself in.

"Beau what the **** are u doing? Go to nearby police station now brother. I love you and they shoot u dead."

Wiles who is certainly no stranger to social media, posted a selfie on Facebook wearing only his undies just two days before his escaped. Corrective Services were unable to say how he got a phone in jail and was able to post the photo.

He also appeared in a bizarre rap video which was uploaded to YouTube.

Friends have told 7 News that Wiles is far from a dangerous man.

"He's making some wrong decisions, but he's nothing to be scared of, he's nothing to be afraid of," Kristy Hottes told 7 News.

"Beau is fun loving full of energy. And has a whole life ahead of him if he just picks the right path."

Wiles, is the second prisoner to break out from the jail in just over a month.

Stephen Jamieson became Goulburn's first escapee in 19 years, after he used bed sheets and a pillow to scale a fence last month. He was recaptured just 12 hours later.

Anyone who sees Ali Chahine or Wiles is urged not to approach them. They should contact 000 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
