Graveside flower thief caught on camera
A hidden camera has caught an unidentified woman stealing flowers and mementos from a grave site in Canada.
Alma Allerston, 86, passed away on Easter Sunday this year and was buried at St. Peter’s Cemetery in the town of London, Ontario.
Her daughter, Marg Allerston-Medeiros, and her family constantly decorate the site with mementos and fresh flowers.
Marg claims the flowers have been ripped from the ground 10 or 12 times now which has left a big hole in the grave site, causing her to set up a hidden camera.
In the shocking video a blonde woman can be seen with a small brown box in front of Alma's grave, ripping up the planted flowers from the ground and running away.
Marg claims at times the flowers have been thrown in a nearby rubbish bin and said she has no idea why someone would be targeting her family or her mother.
“Everyone loved her, you know, she was the kind of lady that took you under her wing,” Marg told am980.
“I don’t get it. Now, my husband and I, and sister, we’re not in there (the grave plot) now, but we will be in that plot one day, so our names are there, so I don’t know if it’s a personal attack on one of us three. I just don’t know at this point.”
Marg said it hurts because that’s her place to pay tribute to her mother's life and she has almost reached the point where she doesn't want to plant a flower.
She posted the video on her Facebook page encouraging people to come forward with information about the woman.
The footage has been viewed more than one million times.
Marg has since filed a report with the London Police and was told that the footage does not capture the female suspect’s face and police are therefore unable to identify her.
This is not the first time a thief has stolen priceless items.
