This terrifying footage shows the moment a group of teenage girls had a fight inside a classroom at a NSW school.

The shaky mobile phone video, obtained by the ABC, shows the escalating violence at Walgett Community College in north east of the state.

Leonie Simpson told ABC that her 13-year-old daughter was in the Year 8 classroom with three other female pupils when ‘a big group of kids’ came in and attacked her earlier this year.

The concerned mum said: "They've punched, kicked, pulled her hair.”

An adult voice, supposedly a teacher, can be heard in the video saying "Oi, oi oi!”

Ms Simpson said her daughter was left with bruising under her eyes and a swollen nose after the incident earlier this year.

Fairfax media reports Walgett Police confirmed that two students have been charged following two separate fights at the high school on Monday during a visit by the department's top officials.

NSW Education Minister Adrian Piccoli said the incident was being dealt with by the police.
