A five-year-old has reduced a restaurant to tears with a humbling act of kindness he showed towards a homeless man.

On his way into a US Waffle House Josiah Duncan asked his mother, Ava Faulk, why a man was sitting alone outside.

‘He’s homeless,’ she explained.

Like most inquisitive children Josiah’s questions didn’t stop there.

‘Where is his house? Where is his family? Where does he keep his groceries?’ his mother remembers him asking.

Confused and concerned Josiah asked his mother if they could buy the man a meal. When nobody served the homeless man, Josiah offered him a menu and Faulk encouraged him to order whatever he fancied.

‘Can I have bacon?’ he asked her. ‘And I told him get as much bacon [as] you want’ she recalls.

Upon the arrival of the man's food order Josiah went and said a prayer with the man.

While watching this act of kindness the other customers were overcome with emotion.

‘The man cried. I cried. Everybody cried,’ Ms Faulk said.

‘You never know who the angel on Earth is, and when the opportunity comes you should never walk away from it’ she added.

‘Watching my son touch the 11 people in that Waffle House tonight will be forever one of the greatest accomplishments as a parent I’ll ever get to witness.’
