With the movies nominated for 2024 Oscars officially announced, films like Oppenheimer and Poor Things were clear favourites, while the popular Barbie movie saw some significant snubs.

Oppenheimer led nominations with 13 nods, including the Best Picture category, while Poor Things was close behind with 11 nominations.

While Barbie is in the running for Best Picture, Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie were notably left out of the Best Director and Best Actor categories, respectively. Similarly, Celine Song's film Past Lives is in the running for Best Picture, but the director and the film's lead actors, Greta Lee and Teo Yoo, did not receive nominations.

Greta Gerwig's film is nominated in the Best Picture category in the Academy Awards. Additionally, Gosling is in the race for Best Supporting Actor, and Ferrera could win the Best Supporting Actress award. The film is also nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay, which has caused some controversy.

Barbie also received nods in the production design, costume design and original song (for both "I'm Just Ken" and "What Was I Made For?") categories.

Where to watch 'American Fiction'

Following its September premiere at this year's Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), where the movie won the People Choice Award for the festival's best film, American Fiction is now in theatres.

Cord Jefferson's movie is in the running for the Best Picture award at the Oscars, and the film's star, Jeffrey Wright, received a nomination in the Best Actor category. Sterling K. Brown got a Best Supporting Actor nod and the film is also nominated in the adapted screenplay and original score categories.

Anatomy of a Fall, the crime drama from Justine Triet, is still available to watch in select Canadian theatres. The film can also be purchased or rented through Apple TV.

The movie was nominated for an Oscar in the Best Picture category, Lanthimos is nominated for Best Director, Stone is in the running for the Best Actress award and Ruffalo received a nomination in the Best Supporting Actor category.
