'Expensive mistake': Rare $2m Ferrari stuck in ditch after crash

A Ferrari worth more than $2 million was left crumpled in a heap on the side of a Queensland road on Friday after the driver lost control and slammed into trees.

The rare Ferrari F40 bearing dealers plates also knocked down poles and powerlines after veering from Beaudesert Nerang Road near Canungra at 11.30am, police said.

The driver and another man, who were reportedly taking the luxury car for a test drive, were not injured, officers said, according to News.com.

Numerous images and videos of the banged-up vehicle were posted by passing motorists and sticky beakers on Twitter and Facebook.

Car enthusiasts were quick to share their heartbreak over the extensive damage.

“I think I just died inside,” one man wrote.

“Driver needs to never drive a car again,” another said.

“Was it an ambush? Did the Bush jump out in front of the car?” a third person joked, while someone else wrote the crash was one “expensive mistake”.
