17-year-old charged with 2nd-degree murder after man found dead in Nasonworth

A 17-year-old from Nasonworth, a community about 15 kilometres south of Fredericton, has been charged after a 34-year-old was found dead in the area.

Oromocto RCMP responded around 11 a.m. on Monday to a report of an assault with a weapon at a home on Nelson Drive, where police say they found a man outside the residence with significant injuries. He died at the scene, according to an RCMP news release

Shortly after, the 17-year-old was found walking on Phillips Road and was arrested.

Police say the individual is in custody and is scheduled to return to court for a bail hearing on May 23.

A homicide investigation, led by the major crime unit, continues. No other details were given, including the gender of the accused.
