- Graphic footage has emerged of the terrifying moment a massive saltwater crocodile snatched a pet dog from a popular beach in Far North Queensland. Queensland's Department of Environment and Science are currently investigating the attack, and have urged people to be croc-wise in croc country. Over 150 Australians have been evacuated from Sudan as thousands of people flee for safety, as fighting continues between Sudan's military and main paramilitary force. Foreign Minister Penny Wong said Australians wanting to leave the country should strongly consider doing so as soon as possible.

A mom has drowned while swimming with her kids at Snapper Rocks in Queensland. Emergency services were called to the scene on Sunday afternoon, after reports three people were swept into rough surf. All three people were pulled to shore. However, despite resuscitation efforts, the mother died at the scene. Researchers at Griffith University have found that humpback whales in Queensland use sandy, shallow bay areas for an exfoliating spa day on their return journey South to cooler waters. Whales were observed performing full and side rolls in up to 49-meter water depth on the sea floor that was lined with fine sand or rubble.
