A woman has plunged to her death from a Gold Coast balcony overnight following a suspected medical episode.

A woman has plunged to her death from a Gold Coast high-rise balcony following what is suspected to be a medical episode.

Emergency services were called to an apartment on Hooker Boulevard in Mermaid Waters about 11.30pm on Wednesday following reports the woman had fallen.

A Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) spokeswoman said the woman sustained critical injuries and died at the scene.

She was not taken to hospital.

The age and identity of the woman have not been released by emergency services.

Queensland Police said the cause of death was not being treated as suspicious.

It’s understood she suffered a medical episode before the fatal plunge.

Investigations are continuing.
