ATO goes after gangster Carl Williams' wife Roberta Williams' home

Slain gangland boss Carl Williams' ex-wife and daughter could be booted out of his dead dad's home as tax officials move to confiscate it.

The Australian Taxation Office is taking action in the Supreme Court of Victoria to seize the Essendon property of Roberta Williams and her daughter Dhakota to pay back a tax debt defaulted on by George Williams.

According to the ATO's writ, George was ordered to pay the ATO $576,000 in 2013, but failed to pay the debt.

So now the office is pursuing the money, plus interest, from his partner Kathleen Bourke and Ms Williams as executors of the gangland patriarch's estate.

The Primrose Street home in Essendon is the only property being sought in the legal action.

The writ alleges Ms Bourke and Ms Williams have failed to give possession of the home to the ATO and the office should be entitled to sell it.

Convicted drug-trafficker George Williams died of a suspected heart attack aged 69 in May 2016.

He was farewelled in a low-key funeral at St Therese's Parish in Essendon, the same church that held his son's opulent funeral in 2010.

Carl Williams was beaten to death by fellow inmate Matthew Johnson in Barwon Prison. He was buried in a golden casket.
