Five-year-old boy critical after out-of-control car slammed into tree in regional Victoria

A five-year-old boy is in a critical condition after a car careened off the road and slammed into a tree in regional Victoria.

It’s believed a silver Holden sedan was travelling north along Wangoom-Warrumyea Road, Wangoom, near Warrnambool, when it careened right off the road and struck a tree at the intersection of Adams Road about 3pm Sunday.

The boy was airlifted to hospital with life threatening injuries.

The 35-year-old female driver was transported to hospital with serious, but non-life threatening facial injuries.

The cause of the crash is yet to be determined.
