Truck and tram in terrifying near-miss
A truck and tram have come within centimetres of a disastrous collision in south Melbourne.
Shocking dashcam vision, shared on social media, captured the moment a truck slammed into the Albert Road bridge.
The entire top of the vehicle was torn off by the force of the impact, with debris hurled over the bridge and onto the road.
It all happened as a packed tram was crossing the bridge - just metres away from the crash.
Thankfully, the tram driver applied the emergency brake and was able to slow down to a stop and cross without incident.
Yarra Trams is investigating the incident.
Traffic was delayed in the area this morning as crews cleared debris from the road.
