Yallingup house lost to fire

A luxury four-bedroom homestead in Yallingup was destroyed by fire overnight.

Just before 5pm, a bushfire reached Cairnhill Homestead on Nukklgup Loop in Yallingup.

The homestead is situated on a hill overlooking the Gunyulgup Valley.

The fire caused in excess of $1 million to the rental property and burnt at least five hectares of bush.

It took more than 50 firefighters from Yallingup, Busselton, Dunsborough, Willyabrup, Metricup and Vasse about an hour to contain the blaze and five hours to extinguish it.

They were supported by two water bomber helicopters and an air attack supervisor.

One firefighter was treated at the scene for heat stress.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
