Perth Glory coach Edwards sacked

Perth Glory have parted ways with coach Alistair Edwards following a bitter feud between coaching staff and senior players.

Chief executive Jason Brewer has spearheaded an investigation into the fall-out since it became a major issue last week and is due to address the media after training tonight.

The two central figures in the drama have been head coach Edwards and long-time captain Jacob Burns.

Club owner Tony Sage this week offered no guarantees that both Edwards and Burns would remain at the club and said he was prepared to make tough calls if required.

Burns is at training today, as are most members of the squad, including Edwards’ sons, Ryan and Cameron.

But Alistair Edwards is not present and an official confirmed the club had parted ways with the coach.
