Collie man denies laser charge
A 24-year-old Collie man has denied he shone a laser into the eyes of a McDonald's worker last night.
Arron Thomas Jackson appeared in the Bunbury Magistrate's Court this morning and pleaded not guilty to endangering the life, health or safety of a person and possessing a prohibited weapon.
Police allege Mr Jackson shone the light while he was inside the fast food outlet on Throssell Street, Collie, at 6.20pm.
Sgt John Mawson told the court Mr Jackson was allegedly sitting 10m to 15m away from the counter when he allegedly shone the laser into the right eye of the worker, who was serving a customer.
Sgt Mawson said the worker threatened to call police and Mr Jackson allegedly replied “what are you going to do - have a cry?”
Police have three witnesses and CCTV footage of the incident.
Mr Jackson told police during an interview he had used an LED torch and officers could not find the laser, Sgt Mawson said.
Mr Jackson was granted bail and ordered to again appear in court in Collie on Wednesday.
