Digital channels’ arrival delayed

Fifteen television channels will soon be available to viewers in the Goldfields as part of a digital free-to-air television rollout.

The rollout was originally set to go live on Thursday along with Bunbury, but due to unforeseen delays Kalgoorlie-Boulder is set to receive the six extra channels by late September.

Once the digital translator is switched on in the region residents with digital TVs and set-top boxes will be able to re-tune their televisions to access the full suite of digital free to air channels including ONE HD, Eleven, GO!, Gem, 7TWO and 7mate.

Prime Television chief executive Doug Edwards said everything was being done to bring the extra channels to regional viewers.

“Bunbury will be switched over on the 28th (of July) and all other 51 regional centres will follow,” he said.

“The original date was a guide that the Government was working on, but unfortunately delays have pushed that date back.”

Mr Edwards said the end of September was the latest date the channels would be available.
