Charges over cat stuffed into bottle

A Taiwanese uni student could go to jail for stuffing her cat into a jar, after uploading pictures to her Facebook page.

Kiki Lin has been charged with animal abuse for forcing her cat - also named Kiki - into the container.

The Mail Online website reports that online commenters were appalled by images of feline Kiki being crammed into the tiny space but human Kiki dismissed their criticisms.

She told local media she had put the cat in the jar to test ways of transporting it.

The Taichung City Animal Protection and Health Inspection Office has charged Ms Lin with animal protection law violations.

If found guilty she could be fined or be sentenced to a year in prison.
