US deal for music label

Spinning Top Music, the white-hot label behind Tame Impala, Pond and indie pop songstress Felicity Groom, is poised to sign with major record company Warner Music Australia and launch in the US.

The coup comes as new mum Groom and other Spinning Top acts prepare for their Perth International Arts Festival gig on Saturday.

The showcase will not feature Grammy-nominated Tame Impala but frontman Kevin Parker will unveil his disco-rock side project with the tongue-in-cheek moniker AAA Aardvark Getdown Services.

Groom, 33, has been mixing motherhood and music since daughter Ivy was born five months ago. She is finishing off her second album Hungry Sky, which should be one of the first Warner releases.

Spinning Top boss and Tame Impala manager Jodie Regan said the deal had "a structure and reach" far greater than her independent label.

The Spinning Top showcase at the Chevron Festival Gardens on Saturday night will be a timely celebration for the Fremantle-born success story.
