Stones ready to roll at Adelaide Oval

Final preparations are underway as the new Adelaide Oval gears up for its biggest test this Saturday when more than 53,000 people will rock up for the Rolling Stones concert.

Adelaide is the first stop in the Stones’ Australian tour and their biggest concert on their trip downunder.

The crowd will be more than double any other venue in the country.

The band is putting the ground through its paces tonight, in their first rehearsal since arriving in Adelaide last week.

After keeping a low profile since flying in, the band agreed to face the cameras this afternoon, but still refused to be interviewed.

Fans are being urged to arrive early for tomorrow night’s concert to get through the beefed up security, including extensive bag checks.

Some traffic restrictions around the Adelaide Oval kick in from 11am, while extra buses and trains are being rolled out to ease the squeeze.

The gates open at Adelaide Oval at 5pm, with Jimmy Barnes opening the show at 7pm before the Rolling Stones hit the stage at 8.30pm.
