He is the Perth Scorchers “12th man” who got up close and personal with Brad Hogg, and became an instant viral video hit in the process.

As Justin Langer’s men in orange made it to an incredible fourth successive Big Bash final at The Furnace last night, one passionate fan was more involved than most with the celebrations.

As Adam Voges, Shaun Marsh and the veteran spinner embraced as they down the Melbourne Stars, a lone fan sprinted from the Prindiville Stand into the player’s huddle – and made a beeline to the 43-year-old spinner.

Despite numerous warnings about stepping on the playing surface – and harsh penalties for anyone tries – the fan was quick and elusive enough to reach the huddle, where Hoggy seemed more than happy to embrace his enthusiasm.

With WACA security as slow off the mark as the Stars’ openers, the super fan then sprinted back to the boundary, where he hopped the fence to the delight of the already delirious Scorchers’ fans.

And after video of the fan was posted online this morning, it became an instant hit around the country.

Hogg tweeted about the extra support this morning.

But the identity of the invader so far remains a mystery.
