Eight female competitor had been in the water at Snapper Rocks, just hours before the shark was found on drum lines on Wednesday afternoon.

It’s been reported, the 3.5 metre female is the biggest shark that’s been found off the Gold Coast in about seven years.

Marine experts say there are a lot of bait fish and mackerel around at the moment, but there have been no other reported sightings since Wednesday. And it is unusual for these sharks to be in waters as warmer than 17-20 degrees at this time of year.
