Beer adds fizz to food fiesta

With less than two months to go, local chefs involved in this year's third Margaret River Gourmet Escape wine and food festival are finalising their menus.

Dozens of WA chefs will join 30 international and Australian food and wine personalities headlined by star chef Heston Blumenthal in a variety of events from November 20-23.

Mt Lawley's El Publico restaurant and Dunsborough's Eagle Bay Brewing Company will collaborate for the first time to deliver the Long Table Fiesta, serving Mexican food using Margaret River produce and a special beer. It is one of 17 satellite and 12 fringe events for the weekend.

At the international launch in London, Blumenthal said: "Margaret River is one of the most beautiful locations I've ever been to. The coastline is beautiful, the sand is pure white, the waters are crystal clear.

"You have fantastic wine estates with really good restaurants."

He said fabulous local produce included marron and some of the world's best truffles.

The event has more than 140 stallholders in its Gourmet Village to showcase food and wine.
