Fake Lady Gaga struts Perth's streets

Pop sensation Lady Gaga will strut her stuff on the Burswood Dome stage tomorrow night but it was someone else entirely trying to pull a swift one on her adoring Perth fans today.

Radio station 92.9 announced twice on air this morning that Lady Gaga had been spotted near central Perth, near the Armani store at the fashionable Wesley Quarter shopping precinct.

A handful of fans were on hand at about midday as a luxury black four-wheel-drive pulled up on Hay Street and a flamboyantly-attired blonde woman stepped out, accompanied by a second woman, clutching a clipboard and mobile phone, and a burly, be-suited minder.

Despite the Gaga-esque wardrobe of pink underwear over lace tights, giants sunglasses and platinum blonde hair, the imposter's chunky frame gave the game away.

Witnesses told thewest.com.au about a dozen fans followed the impersonator about 100m up Hay St before she jumped back into the black car out the front of the Rydges Hotel and drove away.

Reports that Lady Gaga has already arrived in Perth ahead of tomorrow's "Monster Ball" gig are yet to be confirmed, with dozens of fans camped at Perth airport throughout the day.

Last week, a similar stunt was pulled in Melbourne by 92.9's sister station Fox FM. Morning presenter Jo Stanley dressed up as Lady Gaga and went shopping on Melbourne's fashionable Chapel Street. A 92.9 spokeswoman did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
