One dead in York crash
One person is dead after a minivan crashed into a tree near York this afternoon.
The crash happened about 2.30pm on Great Southern Highway and Wambyn Road in St Ronans, 20km west of York.
Early reports suggested a person had been trapped in the vehicle and the RAC rescue helicopter, firefighters and St John Ambulance paramedics were sent to the crash site.
Police said Great Southern Highway between The Lakes and York was closed while a traffic management plan was put in place
