Simon Gittany trial

Rachelle Louise, the girlfriend of convicted murderer Simon Gittany, opened up to Sunday Night prior to her boyfriend's sentencing to protest his innocence.

Gittany was later sentenced to 26 years prison for killing his fiancee in 2011 by throwing her from a balcony.

The explosive interview was labeled "bizarre" by some viewers who saw the 24 year-old as vulnerable and suggested she was under the same control his dead fiancée Lisa Harnum had alluded to.

INXS: The untold story

That INXS frontman Michael Hutchence had planned to leave his girlfriend Paula Yates in the days before his death, was just one of the revelations that came out in Sunday Nights exclusive with the band members.

The untold story of the band's rise and fall coincided with the release of Seven's telemovie INXS: Never Tear Us Apart and over 2 million viewers tuned in to see Rahni Sadler's interview.

The band also spoke of Hutchence's many famous romances, including his time dating budding Australian songstress and Neighbours star Kylie Minogue.

Simon Gittany trial: Part 2

The second part of Sunday Night's exclusive inside look at the murder of Lisa Harnum became another ratings winner as Gittany received his sentence of 26 years prison, 18 years non-parole.

Sunday Night reconstructed the crime scene inside Simon Gittany's apartment and called upon experts to investigate both the Prosecution and Defence versions of those fateful 69 seconds inside an exact reproduction of the apartment’s living area, and balcony.

His girlfriend Rachelle was with Sunday Night as the sentence was handed down and she revealed she would not wait for her partner to leave prison to continue a relationship, despite their relationship being "so full of love".

Japan's Ghost Island

30 years ago the mysterious island of Hashmia was home to more than 5000 coal miners and their families. Little bigger than the MCG, every square metre of the island filled with towering apartment blocks.

Without explanation, it was abandoned.

But two years ago, it was allowed to be used to film the James Bond movie Skyfall, and Sunday Night was given exclusive access to all parts of this island of ghosts.

It is a bizarre place it's many secrets made for irresistible viewing.

Hearing for the first time: Tim and Natalie's story

Sunday Night welcomed a family who wanted to share their story, and it touched a nation. Tim and Natalie were both born profoundly deaf and had never heard each other, or their three children, speak.

Both 44, they decided to take the plunge with life-changing cochlear surgery and we were there every step of the way.

Then, for the first time on Australian TV, the cochlear implants were turned on.

It was an emotional show for everyone.
