Safety in numbers, says Full Moon partygoer

The Full moon party marked the beginning point of an amazing journey to Thailand and Europe for our girls trip. It seemed that the lead up to the Full moon party was just as exciting as the night itself and the memories made that night have formed many talking points since.

We often reminisce on the great music, buckets filled with vodka red bull, dancing in the ocean under the moon, wearing matching flashing head bands, being covered in glowing paint, the boys and the day after suffering from incurable hangovers and sore feet.

Our initial thoughts were how amazing the atmosphere and energy was by the thousands of people partying on the sandy shore. It wasn't long before we were dancing with buckets in hand to great music and I liked that we were able to choose different stages along the beach, each offering a different type of music.

We were very cautious all night not to lose each other as we were warned by the locals not to bring phones and if it was to happen we planned a new meeting spot in every location we went. Luckily we never had to use them as we were easy to spot with our glowing headbands and face paint.

We didn't come across any dangerous situations throughout the night, but I could see how things can easily go wrong especially if you were lost and by yourself. The walk back to the buses at the early hours of the morning was very confusing. I thought there would at least be some signs pointing us in the right direction but instead we had to listen out for others near by to find your way.

By the end of the night it is fair to say we witnessed a lot of sexual behaviour happening in the ocean, on the sand, in bushes and basically everywhere we went. I know full moons bring out the crazy in people but it really did feel like that was all people were there to do after it hit 4am.

There was the usual bunch of drunk boys that wouldn't take no for an answer but as a group of four girls they were quickly out numbered and would run off to try their luck on another group of girls. But overall we felt very safe throughout the night and made the most of dancing until we couldn't dance anymore!

Not a week goes past where we don't meet someone who has either been to the Full moon party and loved it or is dying to go and experience it for themselves, to which we support in every way of course. It seems like just yesterday we were partying on the sandy beaches of Koh Phangan drinking out of buckets and it shall be something to always remember!
