Officer hit by car during police pursuit

Police are hunting two men over police pursuits in Adelaide’s west yesterday, including one where a police officer was deliberately hit by vehicle.

The first pursuit began when officers spotted a stolen ute and trailer on Days Rd at Ferryden Park just before 4.30pm and gave chase.

Police said the driver then abandoned the vehicle in congested traffic near the intersection of South Rd and Regency Rd.

Officers began chasing on foot but the man got into the passenger side of a white Mazda BT50 which was waiting at the traffic lights.

The Mazda sped off and collided with a police officer, who was not seriously injured.

Another police car pursued the vehicle but was forced to terminate because of the high speed.

The Mazda had a registration number that was a duplicate of a similar vehicle advertised for sale online.

Anyone who spots the white Mazda BT50 with registration number SO77ABE is asked to contact police.

Superintendent Howard Davies said police will allege the driver of the Mazda deliberately drove at and hit the police officer.

“Come forward, don’t be gutless, come forward and admit your wrong,” he said.

“Be assured, we will find you and feel the full force of the law.”
