Adelaide braces for double dose of traffic chaos

Adelaide commuters are bracing for a double dose of traffic chaos with a bus strike tomorrow, followed by Clipsal 500 road closures starting this weekend.

Motorists are being urged to avoid the city’s east end from Saturday as wrok begins to remove the smaller of the two Britannia Roundabouts ahead of next weeks’ Clipsal 500.

A number of roads will be closed from 6am, including Dequetteville Tce and sections of Wakefield Rd, Flinders St and East Tce.

One Monday morning parts of Bartels Rd and Hutt St will also be shut.

They will remain closed until March 5.

Drivers are being urged to steer clear of the closures if possible and allow extra time.

Meanwhile, public transport users could run into trouble tomorrow with 300 Southlink bus drivers walking off the job between 10am and 2pm in their fight for better pay and conditions.

The worst affected areas will be Noarlunga and Elizabeth.
