Adelaide carparking levy set to hit workers

Workers in Adelaide’s CBD could be slugged up to $30 a week extra if a new parking tax goes ahead, according to a report set to be released tomorrow.

7News understands the independent report commissioned by the Property Council will ring alarm bells by exposing the major financial impacts on workers, shoppers and businesses.

The most startling impact could be on household income - it is estimated some public parking could rise by up to $6 a day, or $30 for a working week.

That would be a three per cent hit to the average worker’s pay packet.

The report is a clear signal of an all-out war against the new public levy which will raise $26 million a year to encourage more public transport use.
