Sydney Airport hosts annual lost property auction

With more than 40 million passengers travelling through Sydney Airport each year, many weird and wonderful items are left behind.

While every effort is made to reunite owners with their belongings, thousands remain uncollected and are auctioned for charity.

There are around 5000 items up for auction this year, including a remote-controlled helicopter, microwave, mountain bike, drill, telescope, surfboards, musical instruments, designer clothing and electronics.

A public viewing day will be held from 8am to 4.30pm on Monday, October 10, with the auction to run online at www.pickles.com.au from Tuesday, October 11 to Thursday, October 20.

Proceeds will be donated to charities including Conservation Volunteers Australia, The Clontarf Foundation, The Australian Kookaburra Kids Foundation and Lifeline Australia.
