Sydney man shot in targeted late-night attack
Police are searching for a gunman after a Sydney man was shot in a late-night attack.
The 24-year-old man was found with a single gunshot wound to his back outside a home in Prairiewood.
He was taken to Liverpool Hospital for emergency surgery.
He is now in a critical condition.
Police have described the suspected gunman as male, and wearing a hooded jacket.
"The victim was found just near the doorway," Inspector Adam Bird told ABC News.
"Police believe he was in the process of walking from his vehicle to the front door of the premises when the shooting took place."
Inspector Bird said he could not confirm if the shooting was gang-related.
"Our detectives are looking at a number of lines of inquiry but at this stage that can't be confirmed," he said.
"Fairfield detectives will be returning to the scene and conducting a further canvass of the area for witnesses and CCTV."
It's believed the shooting was targeted.
