Elderly grandmother beaten, attackers blame Pokemon Go

Two men who allegedly beat a Brisbane grandmother with nun chucks say they were just trying to confront a “suspicious” group who turned out to be playing Pokemon Go.

In a bizarre claim, the two men say they saw the woman’s grandson and his friends out at 1am, so they followed them to the grandmother’s Meadowbrook home where the assault took place.

The two men tried to confront the group but the Sheila White stood in the way.

“Before I knew it, (one of the men) was smashing into my head,” Ms White said.

“I’m lying on the floor, blood running out of my head.”

Ms White’s 74-year-old husband, who recently had a pacemaker put in, managed to wrestle the weapon out of the man’s hands.

The 21-year-old grandson then kicked the weapon away.

The 74-year-old husband spent last night in hospital receiving treatment after the attack.

Les Richards from Queensland police said Ms White’s grandson and his friends had done nothing wrong before the assault.

Police arrested two men nearby and charged a 33 and 26-year-old man.

Ms White said she’s lived in the area for 40 years and she won’t let the assault scare her away.
