Man arrested over Gold Coast hit and run

Police have arrested a man after a cab driver was hit by a vehicle travelling at high speeds in Surfers Paradise.

On Friday afternoon police launched a widespread manhunt in a bid to find the man responsible for the brutal incident.

A man has been since been arrested in relation to the incident the occurred at Surfers Paradise.

Horrific CCTV showing the moment the victim, who was standing next to his cab on Laycock Street, being thrown up into the air as he was struck at high speed by the black sedan.

The 29-year-old victim is in a stable condition after having surgery overnight for serious leg injuries.

The incident took place on Friday afternoon after an argument between the two taxi drivers, police say the men were known to one another.

Shocking CCTV footage of the horrific incident shows several witnesses trying to pull the cabbie out of the way of the oncoming car before he was struck.

The vision shows the brutal force of the impact throwing the cabbie violently across the bonnet of the sedan.

The incident played out in front of dozens of witnesses, many tourists watching from their high-rise balconies, who rushed down to try to help the victim.
