Is this a fuel scam, or a gas ghost?

A motorist in the US was furious to see a petrol station pump continued to charge him after he finished filling his car.

Jeff Seib recorded the rogue bowser when he filled up at the Los Angeles Chevron servo, and posted the footage to YouTube.

The video shows the disgruntled motorist waving the pump in the air as the bowser continues to rack up gallons and dollars while no fuel is being pumped.

"Still charging me," he says, as the bowser ticks over.

"Still going."

He wonders how long the pump was on the fritz, as the line was long when he pulled up to the station.

"Who the f***knows how long it's been going like that," Mr Seib shouts in the video.

"Cos I've been stuck in the f***ing line all g****** afternoon."

Mr Seib said he reported the issue to the manager, who called their supervisor but said the issue was not resolved.

“They put an ‘Out of Order’ sign on it and told me to come back to speak to the GM,” he wrote on the caption accompanying the YouTube post.

“If you tilt the nozzle down and it starts charging money, gas or no gas! Tilt it upwards and it stops.

“Someone's making a lot of money,” he wrote.
